Our Programs

Our campaign programs focus on
four key strategies: economic empowerment, neighborhood reinvestment, civic engagement and community enrichment.

All programs are developed around core values with the intent to break socio-economic barriers in the local community.

  • Give a Child a Smile

Give a Child a Smile provides Christmas/holiday gifts, a Christmas party with Santa, games, food, and prizes for underserved local children and families. This program serves 140-220 children and families annually.

  • Fathers Change Lives

A celebratory event allowing fathers and their children to get to know each other. Children need the positivity of a father in their life and this event helps facilitate loving kindness between parents and children.

  • Black History Run

An annual event invites children from around the city to join our organization on educational run through historic Sweet Auburn. The BSCDC created this program to help Atlanta’s youth become aware of the civil rights history of Atlanta.

  • Brown Bag Lunches

The BSCDC and volunteers from the community convene every week to assemble and distribute bagged lunches for people experiencing homelessness in Atlanta. This program has a national scope and was recognized as one of Atlanta's largest lunch distribution groups.

  • Saturday Academy

Are your kids looking for something to do on Saturdays? This program is held in conjunction with Big Bethel Church (located across the street from the YMCA). Children in the church’s care use the BSCDC facility to have fun and learning time in the gym and classrooms.

  • Summer Reading Club

In conjunction with the Big Bethel Youth Academy, Children learn the joy of reading, and finding new ideas. The children keep journals at home to make notes and draw pictures. Adults read to the children and encourage them to discuss the meaning of the stories.

Help us continue growing the legacy, together.
